Health System Change, a nonpartisan research group finds a study that the fraction of US physicians will access to health Info-Tech. The group has conducted a survey on thousands of physicians from 2000-2001 to 2004-2005. The result was that clinical information just become double from 11 to 21 % in the past four years.
Electronic tools are becoming common in following five areas:
• Treatment guidelines grew from 53-65 %.
• Exchanging of clinical data with other physicians grew from 41-50%.
• Notes on patient care increased from 37-50%.
• Generating reminders grew from 24-29 %.
• Prescriptions writing increased from 11-22%.
The number of physicians who have limited access to IT dropped from 51 to 37 %.
Paul B. Ginsburg, president of HSC said,
While gains in physician practice-based IT for patient care are encouraging, there’s still a long way to go.In spite of increment in health IT , the growth rate is still lying between 1 and 4 per cent a year. It concludes that group of physicians are only adopting the IT for most clinical activities.
