Grow Your Own Vegetables

We all know that eating organic vegetables is a healthy choice, however, not all organic vegetables are affordable and a lot of them are grown with chemicals which help them to grow larger and faster, so the vegetables you buy from the supermarket may not be that healthy after all. That is why it would benefit you to plant and grow your own vegetables in your yard. Perhaps the greatest thing about growing your own vegetables is how cheap it actually is because the materials that you buy to create your vegetable garden can be found at many nurseries for low prices, especially the seeds. By growing your own vegetables you know exactly what you put in them and you can grow all your favorites so you will never need to spend time at a busy supermarket sorting through expensive low quality vegetables ever again. The vegetables that you grow don’t have to travel miles and go through many different hands before you can eat them, they simply go straight from your garden to your kitchen, which means that they will last much longer. Growing and tending to your vegetable garden means that you have a fun activity that is also relaxing and you get some gentle exercise which benefits your health in many areas. When deciding which vegetable seeds to plant you need to take your climate into account because some vegetables grow better in cooler climates while others grow better in warmer climates. Secondly, you will need to check the pH level of your soil, ideally it should be between 6.5 and 7 to ensure that your vegetables grow well, you can buy testing kits at most nurseries. You should choose organic seeds to plant as they grow better and are healthier as they haven’t been fed any hormones. Prepare your vegetable garden spot well by getting rid of weeds and turning up the soil to loosen it, don’t forget to feed your vegetables compost and to water them regularly. If the sun is too harsh where you have planted your vegetables you can put up some shade cloth to protect them. So, try growing your own healthy organic vegetables and see for yourself the benefits you will reap.

Environmentally Friendly Cleaning

Is Eco friendly cleaning just a fad? Chemical-based cleansers like bleaches, soaps and detergents are slowly giving way to Eco friendly cleaners. People are beginning to understand that Eco friendly alternatives to their regular cleaners are healthier. We all have come across the age-old adage- Health is wealth. Let us try to understand why regular chemical-based cleaning agents are not good for health. Most household cleansers contain chemicals. Children and pets often get in contact with such chemicals. The toxins in these chemicals do not take more than a few seconds to penetrate the skin, and reach the internal organs. The results are obvious- allergies, asthma, skin, and eye problems. Doctors have even established that the chemicals in conventional household cleaners can lead to birth of cancerous tissues in the human body. Moreover, chemical-based cleaners also have a disturbing effect on the environment. Production of such cleaners gives birth to harmful gases that escape into the atmosphere, and cause breathing problems. What is the solution? You would be happy to know that your kitchen is home to many cleaners that are not only Eco friendly, but also inexpensive. Baking soda, for example, can be used as an effective cleaner. Likewise, vinegar and lemon can be used for cleaning floors and utensils. Natural alternatives to chemical-based cleansers can also arrest the growth of pests. It has now been established that cinnamon can drive away ants. Organic ingredients present in Eco friendly cleaners add to the aroma too. Stubborn stains can easily be removed by cleaning them with a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. You can also search the Internet (or ask your grandmother) for learning more about healthier alternatives for household cleaning. Considering the growing demand for Eco friendly cleaning agents, it would be a good idea to invest in a cleaning franchise. Say no to harsh chemicals, and encourage the use of environment-friendly stuff.
